Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most famous wildlife destinations in Assam, located about 40 km from Guwahati. Known for having the highest density of one-horned rhinoceroses in the world, Pobitora offers an unforgettable wildlife experience surrounded by wetlands, grasslands, and scenic villages.
It is a perfect destination for nature lovers, wildlife photographers, families, and weekend travelers visiting Assam.
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Morigaon District. It is a major wildlife sanctuary in Assam covering an area of 38.8 sq kms out of which 15.9 sq kms area is the effective rhino habitant. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is mainly famous for its Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. Other important animals found in the sanctuary are Asiatic Buffalo, Leopard, Wild Boar, Civet Cat etc. Besides, 157 species of birds have been witnessed in the sanctuary so far.
